Happy Spring. This means plants are growing and now is a good time for pruning and vegetation management. For our FireWise certification (renewed every year) we need at least one hour or work per household on vegetation management, home hardening work.
Please remember to eliminate the weeds starting to grow in our yards before they become a fire hazard and FOXTAIL hazard to our animal friends.
Please keep a record of time spent and let me know so I can update our data for the FireWise renewal.
Current Chipper dates for our neighborhood are April 20, May 4 and May 18.
We are planning to schedule a FireWise workday and BlockParty in September before one of the Berkeley Chipper Program days to do some vegetation management around our homes.
If any of you anticipate enough vegetation to have a large debris bin on the street, we can order from the City. It may be more convenient to place piles in front of your house (Chipper) than moving to a debris bin.
