We live at 1042 Miller Ave, and according to the map we are in the Glam Firewise group, but I just wanted to confirm that so I can be more aware as I talk with our neighbors. I don’t know if we’re officially “in” or not, and can’t tell from trying to look into it. Can you clarify?
Hi Penny and welcome to the Berkeley Firewise website!
If you are at 1024 Miller, you are a part of Firebreakers, a group lead by Ruth Ehrenkrantz:
I am hailing @ruthe here: I believe you will be able to get in touch with her directly on this site!
Hi Penny,
Welcome to the neighborhood!
Attached is the firewise certificate you are looking for. It is good through December 2026. Please send me your email address, street address, phone number and last name so that I can add you to our spreadsheet and the google group we use to communicate about firewise information. I am also copying Phil Goldsmith who is the block captain for your street segment and Caroline Winnett who helps me to lead this neighborhood effort.
We all look forward to meeting you.
Ruth

The map below doesn’t include 1042…. And I can’t see Latham Lane on the other maps to see where the actual lines are. It only matters if we aren’t in a group and therefore need to organize a group….. I’ve had an inspection and we’re personally in good shape, but I did think of meeting with immediate neighbors to check in…. Want to know the status of our street before I set up a meeting!
It does! The numbers don’t show up on the map but you can see that the 1042 house is in the map for Firebreakers.
Your street is actually different from you in this case! As you can see in the map, starting at 1060 and later numbers, these houses, on your side of the street, are part of GLaM. On the other hand, the numbers below 1060, including your home, belong to Firebreakers.
Thanks so much. I’ll gather neighbors, but won’t need to organize Lower Miller….am meeting with Michelle Maguire Friday (Whitaker St) to discuss the adjoining areas not in Firebreak’s.
