Wildfire prevention: Mayor Ishii and Brent Blackaby roll up their sleeves!
What do Council Member Brent Blackaby and Mayor Adena Ishii have in common? They are hands-on leaders. They came out on a blustery and rainy Saturday on April 11 and spent the day working with volunteers to help fixed-income seniors make their houses more fire safe. Members of both Blackaby’s and Ishii’s staff also volunteered their time to help out. A large part of the event was funded through a grant from the UC Chancellor’s Community Partnership Fund: thank you UC!
I am sure that Council Member Brent Blackaby and Mayor Adena Ishii are well aware of the costs of EMBER. But they understand that the potential cost of a large urban conflagration such as the one in Palisades demands action. Rather than drink coffee by their computers on a rainy day, they were willing to “put their money where their mouth is” last Saturday. They were out helping people make their yards safer one house at a time. Blackaby, Ishii and their staffs were a tremendous help before April 11 and on the day of the event. We are grateful for their help!
We hold many events over the year. If you want to join the community effort to make our neighborhood safer, DM me.
Council Member Blackaby, Mayor Ishii and the Berkeley Ridge Fire Wise committees believe in supporting local self-reliance efforts.
