Re: Support for the EMBER Ordinance
Dear Mayor Ishii and City Councilmembers,
I am a resident of the Grizzly Peak Mitigation Area. I would like to express my strong support for the proposed EMBER ordinance.
The Berkeley Fire Department has to be the ultimate expert on what is required to fight wildfire in the Berkeley Hills. I understand that their recommendation is in agreement with the general consensus of wildfire scientists, and with the general consensus of other California firefighters. I am ready to do what BFD feels is necessary for our collective survival.
We all know that it is only a matter of time before we see wildfire coming from Tilden Park. Every fire season is longer, and more severe. We have already seen how the state’s delays have affected communities in Southern California. We should not make the same mistake.
Please do not wait: pass EMBER now.
Thank you for your consideration and your commitment to community safety and climate resilience.
Sincerely,
