This interesting 2024 report, authored by several graduate students at UC Berkeley, was recently discussed in a City of Berkeley Commission.
The authors have a set of recommendations in the report, many of which have been requested by local residents over the past few years. Among them:
- actually enforce existing parking regulations on the hillside, since most streets may end up as evacuation routes
- no parking on Red Flag days
- Residential Parking Permit (RPP) Program to limit the number of cars
- Subsidize Transportation Network Company Trips (Uber/Lyft etc.)
- Improve Transit Options
- Increase No Parking Zones
